Each week a social media challenge (or two) will be posted on Stand Up 4 Grain Safety social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). Compete with your co-workers, other facility locations, another company, the audience at large, or whomever you want to beat. Winners earn bragging rights and a place in the winner’s circle. The Alliance has a few other surprises for those who participate, so keep an eye on social media. Plan your winning strategy with the helpful descriptions below. WAIT for the post announcing the challenge to play!

If social media isn’t your “thing” but you still want a chance to win prizes, we’ve got you covered! Every day of Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week during the learning sessions, there will be a challenge question(s) presented. Earn points for your participation and chances for prizes.
Challenge 1 – Generate Buzz!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: To share information about Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week and generate “conversation”.
Directions: Go to our social media sites and “Follow Us”. COMMENT and/or SHARE our posts. Use #StandUp4GrainSafety. Participate daily to help spread the word! The more you comment, share, and use the hashtag, the more your FB and Twitter handle will be counted!
Length: 1 week

Challenge 2 – I Spy!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: To explore the StandUp4GrainSafety website and have some fun.
Directions: When Challenge 2 – I SPY is posted – Find Safety Dave as he visits different areas of the website. When you find Safety Dave – click on him. He will link back to specific place for you to make a post – “I SPY Safety Dave” # Standup4GrainSafety. Safety Dave is going to move around. Don’t miss out on his adventures – put SU4GS social media into your feeds! While you are looking for Safety Dave, be sure to check out the website, download resources, register for learning sessions, and post information about your own Stand Up activities. HINT! Safety Dave is wearing some popular PPE!

Posts Friday 3/10
Challenge 3 – Show & Tell!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: Share the safe practices you follow when using Powered Industrial Trucks and like equipment.
Directions: Keep your camera handy! When Challenge 3 “Show & Tell” pops up on social media, post a picture of your powered insutrial truck (forklift), skid steer, front loader, or like equipment and a safety practice you use when operating it with # Standup4GrainSafety. Get people to “Like” and “Share” your posts! Winners are both individuals and companies. So yes, it is definitely okay to brag about your awesome workplace and employees!
FAQ: Can I post a “bad practice” as a warning/lesson for others? Yes. Clearly indicate it is a bad practice. Put a visible slash, no symbol, thumbs down, or other such mark on the picture that says it is a hazard or bad practice. Tell what is wrong and what happened or can happen.
FAQ: What if I am uncertain whether it is a good or bad practice? “It takes a village” – or in this case a community of industry professionals! Ask for help! Post your picture and question. Include whether you are regulated by OSHA and if it is in federal or state plan location (name the state). We suggest removing identifying information – we know you are working hard to make things safer!

Challenge 4 – Caught You Doing Something Safe!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: Actively find safe , preventative practices at your workplace.
Directions: Finding and acknowledging the safe ways our workers are doing their jobs is just as important as correcting unsafe practices. Whether they are performing a preventative maintenance task, doing something safely using safe/BEST practices, or correctly using PPE to protect against hazards, snap a photo and/or jot it down.
When Challenge 4 “Caught you doing Something Safe” is announced, Post your photo or story on social media and use # Standup4GrainSafety. Get others to comment, react, and share your picture! “Impress” others on Twitter with the safe practices (yes, we want to see how many impressions your posts can get). Let’s go viral!! Respond to the FB “reactions” and boost the comments being made.
We are looking for individual and company winners!

Challenge 5 – Turn Up the Heat!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: Pass along a new post daily to build momentum for SU4GS Week 2023.
Directions: You’ll know it’s time to start Challenge 5 “Turn Up the Heat!” when our social media post has a thermometer. During this challenge, the Alliance will post a fact, resource or question on social media once or twice a day during this week. SHARE the post and use # Standup4GrainSafety. Let’s make it “spread like wildfire” on Twitter and “flood” facebook to “turn up the heat” on getting the word out about SU4GS Week 2023.

Challenge 6 – Superhero PPE Selfie!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: Promote the appropriate use of PPE!
Directions: What’s your Superhero PPE? When our favorite superheroes appear on social media – be ready for this fun challenge! Whether its IronMan’s suit, Captain America’s shield or Wonder Woman’s bullet deflecting bracelets – Superheroes wear their own kind of PPE to keep them safe. Post a selfie picture in your Superhero PPE with a comment encouraging people to “LIKE” your outfit. Don’t forget to use # Standup4GrainSafety.
Bonus points for Superhero poses and costumes!
HINT; This is closer to SU4GS Week to give you time to plan your fashion but those planning on attending the NGFA national convention can still participate!

Winners will be posted on social media and their social media profile picture will be put in the Winners Circle! The most loved Superhero pictures will be used during the Stand Up 4 Grain Safety learning sessions! And don’t be surprised if your picture appears in other SU4GS promotional materials!

Challenge 7 – Tell Your Safety Superhero Story!
WINNERS’ CIRCLE
Goal: Promote the appropriate use of PPE!
Directions: Why Superheroes? Superheroes keep people safe. Tell us about your safety Superhero. Post a pic and/or story about someone being a “Superhero” for safety at the workplace with # Standup4GrainSafety. Encourage people to SHARE your story! This will be our final social media challenge. Get your stories ready and be ready to post when it opens!
HINT: Best to post before 9 AM CentralTime!
Length: 1 – 2 weeks
Winners will be posted on social media and their social media profile picture will be put in the Winners Circle! We’ll be looking for the best stories to share during the Stand Up 4 Grain Safety learning sessions! And don’t be surprised if your story appears in other SU4GS promotional materials!
