2025 Kick Off Event

Join us for the 2025 Kick Off Event livestreamed from Iowa State University, Kent Feed Mill and Grain Science Complex, Ames, Iowa.
The Kick Off is a hybrid (in-person & virtual) event to highlight the importance of participating in Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week and the benefits received from this national, industry wide focus on safety. We ALL have a piece in ensuring our workers go home safely at the end of every work day!
The event will feature exciting, original demonstrations focusing on key issues to managing your workplace safely and efficiently. Presenters include George Obeng-Akrofi, PhD; Dirk Maier, PhD; James Wright, PhD; and Jordan Harding. Learn how to establish traffic patterns for vehicles, equipment, and people to prevent incidents where people are in the wrong place at the wrong time! Prevent unsafe scenarios by taking care of machinery and equipment before they become a problem. Understand where taking care of the “little things” pays off in big ways for safety. Say What?! Hearing loss is prevalent in the industry. Get some tips on assessing the noise level in your work environment and how you can preserve your hearing. When the temperature goes up outside, it also rises inside the grain bin. We’ll share some ways you and your employees can stay safe and productive during times of extreme heat.
