David will discuss the current state of railrod safety and the future state of railroad safety. He will dispel myths about railway safety and explore some on the new technology being used to prevent incidents.

Presenter – David O’Hara, MPH, COHC!
David O’Hara is the General Director of Operating Practices for Union Pacific Railroad where his duties include Safety, Compliance with all federal regulations, Engineer & Conductor licensing & training, keeper of all rules and policies. He was hired on with Union Pacific 27 years ago as a conductor then promoted to locomotive engineer. He recieved multiple management promotions/moves in Kansas City, Chicago, St Louis and Omaha. David is a fourth generation railroader with two brothers that are also fourth generation and work for Union Pacific. His two sons work for Union Pacific as well, making them the fifth generation. David has four grandsons, and says one of them better come to work for Union Pacific, or else.
David is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, a graduate of Michigan State Railway Management, and has a Bachelor of Science Management degree.
